Type Locality and Naming
In the village of Tym, W. Uzbekistan. O.S. Vyalov, S.I. Ilyin, G.Ya. Meyer et al., 1947 (158, p.22). Stratotype not specified.
Synonym: Tymskaya Suite, Тымская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Gray, greenish-gray sandstones, sands with layers of clays and limestones. Thickness 10-245 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Lies with erosion on the Karnap Fm, in places on the Paleozoic
Upper contact
Overlain by the Paleocene. [NOTE: We didn’t yet locate a Paleocene formation in the listings of Zirabulak-Ziaetdin units.]
Regional extent
Zirabulak-Ziaetdin Mountains, Karatepin Mountains, Karaiz; in the adjacent plains, revealed by drilling.
